Abuja, Nigeria

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its official timetable for the 2027 general elections, fixing May 15–16, 2026, for its presidential primary and setting the cost of its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦100 million.

The schedule, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines key dates for the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and primary elections across all elective positions.

According to the timetable, the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will begin on April 25 and end on May 2, 2026, at the APC National Secretariat. Aspirants are expected to submit completed forms by May 4.

The party pegged the presidential form at ₦100 million, broken down into ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination.

For other positions:

  • Governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million
  • Senate aspirants: ₦20 million
  • House of Representatives: ₦10 million
  • State House of Assembly: ₦6 million

Screening of aspirants for most positions is scheduled to hold between May 6 and May 8, while presidential screening is set for May 9. Results of the screening exercise will be released on May 11.

Appeals arising from the screening will take place between May 12 and May 13.

The party has mapped out a tight schedule for its primaries, which will be completed within eight days:

  • Presidential primary: May 15–16
  • House of Representatives: May 18
  • Senate: May 20
  • State House of Assembly: May 21
  • Governorship: May 23

All election appeals across categories are expected to conclude by May 25.

The APC announced concessions for female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities. These groups will only pay for the expression of interest forms and receive a 50 percent discount on nomination fees.

In a statement signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party reassured members and stakeholders of its commitment to credible and transparent primaries.

The party said the timetable aligns with its constitution, the Electoral Act, and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The APC timetable marks one of the earliest formal steps by a major political party ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting the tone for internal party activities and candidate selection.

With dates now fixed and fees announced, attention is expected to shift to aspirants preparing to contest under the APC platform, as the party moves into a critical phase of its pre-election process.
