U.S. Signs $5.88bn Bipartisan Package to Strengthen Global Fight Against HIV

The United States has signed into law a $5.88 billion bipartisan spending package aimed at boosting the global response to HIV, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to international health efforts, this was confirmed by UNAIDS through its tweet on X.

The funding will support various bilateral HIV programmes, contributions to the Global Fund and work under the joint United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). The package is expected to enhance prevention, treatment, and care services in affected countries and help accelerate progress toward global HIV targets.

U.S. lawmakers from both parties backed the measure, which reflects continued U.S. leadership and investment in global health priorities amid broader debates over foreign assistance spending and multilateral engagement.

The approval of the package follows ongoing global efforts to strengthen health systems and support long-term disease control strategies, including at bilateral and multilateral levels.
