Meta Expands AI Footprint With Manus Integration Across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook

Meta is rolling out Manus AI, the autonomous agent technology it acquired late last year, across its major consumer platforms — including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Meta AI — in what analysts describe as a significant step toward mainstream adoption of “agentic” artificial intelligence.

According to an update shared by AI developer Olalekan Samuel Ogunleye, the integration allows users to perform tasks such as research, content creation, planning and information retrieval directly inside Meta’s messaging and social apps without switching to a browser or standalone workspace.

The move advances Meta’s strategy of embedding productivity and creative AI tools into platforms used by billions of people. Unlike traditional chatbots, Manus is part of a newer class of AI systems designed to carry out autonomous multi-step tasks, enabling it to organize queries, run workflows and execute requests with minimal prompting.

Meta acquired Manus in late 2025 as competition intensified among major tech firms to commercialize agent-style AI products. Industry observers say Meta is positioning Manus as both a consumer feature and a potential premium add-on for power users and professionals.

The company has already experimented with paid tiers for enhanced AI features on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, though core messaging and posting functions remain free. The rollout also reflects a shift in Meta’s business direction. After years of investment in the metaverse, the company has redirected capital toward AI infrastructure, model development and direct monetization through subscriptions and in-app features.

Competitors including Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Apple and Microsoft are pursuing similar strategies as the next phase of AI moves from novelty to utility.Developers and content creators say Manus could help shorten production pipelines for short-form content, branded material and research workflows — areas that have become increasingly important on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

For general users, the technology may surface through assistive features such as drafting captions, summarizing links, generating artwork or organizing event-related planning.Meta has not yet detailed the full scope of Manus deployment or whether all features will be available globally.

AI rollouts across Meta’s platforms often vary by market due to language models, regulatory approvals and user testing.Analysts view the integration as part of a broader industry race to embed AI agents directly into communication and productivity environments, rather than confining them to standalone apps.
