Several Nigerian soldiers were killed after militants backed by armed drones attacked a military base in Borno State, security sources confirmed on Thursday.
The early-morning assault targeted an army facility in the northeast, where attackers breached parts of the base and struck military equipment using drones and heavy weapons. Reinforcements later arrived and pushed the militants back.
Military authorities have not released an official casualty figure, but security sources said multiple soldiers were killed and others injured.
The attack highlights the growing use of drone technology by insurgent groups operating in the region, raising fresh concerns about evolving tactics in Nigeria’s long-running counter-insurgency campaign.
