Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the timetable and dates for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, dismissed earlier reports claiming the electoral body had already released the election timetable, describing them as inaccurate.
Amupitan said the announcement follows the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
According to INEC:
- Presidential Election: Saturday, February 20, 2027
- Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Elections: Saturday, March 6, 2027
The INEC chairman said the timetable is aimed at giving political parties, candidates and voters adequate time to prepare ahead of the polls.
Details later.
TM N will bring full breakdowns, key dates and implications for parties and voters as they emerge.
