Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez has declared that the country has “had enough” of pressure from the United States following the capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces earlier this month.
Speaking during a public address to oil workers at the Puerto La Cruz refinery in northeastern Venezuela , Rodríguez’s said Venezuelans must decide their political future without outside interference and criticized Washington for attempting to exert influence over the country’s leadership and energy sector.
The remarks signal growing tension between Caracas and Washington as Venezuela attempts to stabilize politically and economically following Maduro’s removal. The United States has urged reforms and wider political dialogue, while also expressing support for the interim administration.
There has been no immediate response from U.S. officials to Rodríguez’s comments.
